What is great about these long mohawk braids is that they are of different thicknesses. Those on the sides are thicker and as you go lower down the scalp, the style ends up in tiny braids.

If you take a close look, you will see box braids at the front of the scalp. What makes this braided mohawk hairstyle work is how all these different styles of braids blend in beautifully together.

This is a slightly different take on the above mohawk style. However, it is still just as breathtaking. The trick here is to have the side braids placed at different angles all leading up to the main mohawk braid. This gives you a varying look, depending on how your mohawk hairstyle is viewed.

Here you have the side braids parallel to one another. The braids leading up the mohawk hairstyle twists are also more defined here.

A braided mohawk with locs is one of the best ways to show your faux hawk off! As an added bonus, there are lots of different mohawk hairstyles to choose from here.

If you have micro locs, this is a great mohawk braid style to check out. The locs are pulled at different angles and twisted into small knots marching down your head.

This is a great look if you want inspiration for a mohawk updo as well. The hair accessory is the perfect finishing touch to this gorgeous look.

If you're looking for a slightly different take on your mohawk braided hairstyles, you should consider this style. What's interesting about this look is that the locs are going in the opposite direction. This allows you to change things up a bit.

Are you all about going big and bold with your long hair? Then this is the style you should adopt! There is so much going on here with this faux hawk. However, the individual intricate patterns and styles work beautifully together.

The loop at the top helps to create the illusion of a mohawk updo. Then, the locs making up the main braided mohawk are held together by locs pulled in from the side of the head. It certainly helps that this is all done up in a bright and vibrant blue!

Are you someone who likes to play around with lots of different styles? If so, this is the braided mohawk updo you have to try. It has braids and twists, all working together in beautiful harmony.

I also like that some of the twists are left loose in the front. This gives the whole look a slightly casual air, making it suitable for a wide variety of occasions.

For this type of mohawk braid, follow the same process as if you were creating French braids. Take smaller sections of hair from the sides and gather them in the middle. Here, you can braid the hair or twist them into knots and secure with bobby pins.

This look works best if you have long hair or hair extensions. If you have shorter hair or layers, pieces of the French braid may keep coming out at intervals.

If you have fine hair, be careful about how you take sections of hair from the side of your head. Thicker sections work best as it helps to create a fuller French braid or knot at the top of the head. This is especially important to keep in mind if you have light-colored hair.

Braided Mohawk with Bantu Knots

A braided mohawk along with bantu knots is such a lovely style. It is perfect for the summer or if you want to keep the hair off your face.

If you want a mohawk braid with bantu knots, there are several styles to consider.

For a more simple mohawk braid with bantu knots, take a look at these styles:

These braided mohawk styles work with cornrows, twists, and locs. It is all about coming up with a pattern you like and finishing it up with bantu knots at the top.

Keep in mind that you have some options when it comes to bantu knots as well. If you're looking for something more subtle, create knots that are smaller and a little flatter.

Want a look that will really pop? Create longer knots and feature a few more twists and loops.

Dutch Braided Mohawk

A Dutch braid is similar to a French braid. With French braids, however, when braiding the hair, you place one section over the other. In the case of a Dutch braid, the sections are placed underneath each other.

The result is that the Dutch braid stands out from the scalp. This is why a mohawk Dutch braid tends to be more prominent than other styles.

If you want a simple Dutch mohawk braid, this is the most basic style:

Here, you simply take sections of hair and bring them to the middle of the scalp where the mohawk braid is formed. If you want a subtle braid, take smaller sections of hair. Thicker sections will create a more prominent mohawk.

There are many ways you can dress this look up as well.

For instance, you can have two smaller braids marching parallel along the main mohawk braid. They can be joined together at the nape of the neck.

Or, you can have multiple side braids with their own complex pattern and design. Bear in mind that your mohawk doesn't always have to end in a braid. You can also tie it in a sleek ponytail.

Braided Mohawk with Shaved Sides

If you want a more classic mohawk look, get shaved sides. If you already have them, the following styles are going to be a breeze.

As you can see, this style works really well if you have locs:

It's just as convenient if you have one, two, or multiple braids. Since you have shaved sides, there are a lot more options to style your braids. Even if you keep them loose, they will create a mohawk design.

At the same time, you can choose to knot, braid, or style them by tying the braids into a ponytail at the nape of your neck.

Do you have short hair and don't want shaved sides? This look can work just as well. You will need hair extensions for the middle portion of your hair if it is equally short all around.
