by Sherri Owens

From flowers to celestial bodies, there are so many different aesthetic tattoos for you to consider for your own design!

Aesthetic tattoos are a fairly new trend but I have already had many requests from clients. Due to this, I decided to do some research on what other tattoo artists were doing as well with this concept. There are certainly lots of options to choose from!

In this post, I will introduce you to the top aesthetic tattoo ideas and show you how to make these concepts your own!

The Best Aesthetic Tattoo Ideas

Here are the top aesthetic tattoo ideas that you can choose for yourself:

Floral Aesthetic Tattoos

Even with modern tattoo designs like aesthetic tattoos, floral designs are still popular.

You will find that for floral aesthetic tattoos, a rose tattoo is still quite popular.

With such aesthetic tattoos, it is all about keeping the design simple. At the same time, you do want a realistic tattoo.

Ornamental Aesthetic Tattoos

I would argue that ornamental tattoos are the original aesthetic designs. These tattoos don't have a meaning to them - they are simply all bout design and pattern.

These tattoos are largely made up of dots, drops, and similar designs. Due to this, it is really easy to create a pattern that is completely unique to you.

Also, this design works equally well for small and large tattoos alike!

Abstract Aesthetic Tattoos

If you are looking for a tattoo design that will allow you to feel completely unrestrained, then you may want to consider abstract aesthetic tattoos.

There really is no rhyme or reason to such aesthetic tattoos. Instead, you can choose your tattoo based on whether you like the flow of certain abstract aesthetic tattoo ideas.

One concept that you can consider for such aesthetic tattoos are the brushwork tattoo designs. Here, the aesthetic tattoos are made of lines and curves that look like streaks left behind when a paint dipped brush is smeared across a canvas.

Animal Aesthetic Tattoos

Animal tattoos are still a staple in the tattoo industry. However, the way in which animals are depicted in aesthetic tattoo ideas is a little different.

This is because with aesthetic tattoos, the design is a great deal more simple. For instance, with animal aesthetic tattoos, you are likely to only have the outline of the animal rather than including complex details.

This works out well if you are looking for a simple or small tattoo.

This doesn't mean that you can't have realistic tattoos with aesthetic tattoos, however! Even with curves and lines, you can still get stunning and realistic aesthetic tattoos.

With aesthetic tattoos, you can get any animal that you want, but an increasing number of people are getting domestic pets like cats and dogs rather than the wolves, tigers, and lions of past years.

Some people will use their own pets as inspiration. This idea works well if you want to get your first tattoo and are looking for a meaningful design.

Also, with these kinds of aesthetic tattoos, you can include fun and zany elements to the design to make it more eye catching.

Snakes have become increasingly popular with the younger generation. While they were once considered symbols of sin, they are known seen as symbols of transformation.

There is also no denying that snake tattoo designs can be absolutely stunning. There is something sensual and beautiful about these creatures and they translate really well as aesthetic tattoos.

Now, as far as aesthetic tattoo ideas go, snake tattoos tend to be more detailed than other aesthetic tattoos.

As a result, your aesthetic tattoo is a great deal more eye catching. It also helps to make aesthetic tattoos look like works of art and beauty.

Another popular trend is to make it look like the snake is entwined around the collarbone. Of course, bear in mind that these aesthetic tattoos can be quite complicated. As such, it is best to work with experienced and talented tattoo artists for such designs.

Landscape Aesthetic Tattoos

Of all the aesthetic tattoo ideas, I have to say that landscape aesthetic tattoos are my favorite!

These aesthetic tattoos consist of snapshots of mountains, beaches, oceans, forests, etc. Such images on skin isn't new but the aesthetic tattoo trend puts a new spin on it.

For instance, with aesthetic tattoos, the scenery is depicted in a more minimalistic manner. Also, it is quite common to create a structured or unstructured frame around the scenery.

This helps to keep the aesthetic tattoo in focus.

Spiritual Aesthetic Tattoos

An increasing number of people are embracing spirituality over religion. For some, they follow specific schools of thought like Buddhism or Hinduism. For others, there is a greater focus on meditation and mindfulness.

Then you have people who combine these various concepts to create their own sense of spirituality.

Heart Aesthetic Tattoos

A heart aesthetic tattoo is different to a traditional one. With most typical heart tattoos, you have the minimalistic heart shape.

However, in the case of aesthetic tattoos, you are more likely to find a detailed diagram of the human heart. This is a modern update to this design. In some instances, other elements like flowers may be added to the main design.

What I like about such aesthetic tattoo ideas is that unlike with the traditional design, the heart doesn't have to stand for love - and so, you can prescribe any meaning to your aesthetic tattoo that you want.

Now, in case that you do like the traditional design, you can still put an aesthetic tattoo spin on it. Here is an idea that you can consider:

Compass Aesthetic Tattoos

Now, the compass design has been around for a while. However, the aesthetic design puts a unique spin on it.

For one thing, when it comes to compass aesthetic tattoos, the compass is drawn with a more fineline based design. Due to this, there is a more minimalistic feel to the compass aesthetic tattoo ideas.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you don't really have to follow any rules with these aesthetic tattoos. Instead, you can choose to include some abstract elements to take your black ink design to a whole other level.

Celestial Aesthetic Tattoos

Getting tattoos of the sun, moon, or stars is certainly nothing new. Aesthetic tattoo ideas have changed how these celestial bodies are designed though.

With aesthetic tattoos, the tattoo are a lot simpler. For instance, a star can be made of three or four lines, perhaps some dots.

Stamp Aesthetic Tattoos

This is pretty new concept for tattoos but it is a really cool one. As the name suggests, the design of the tattoo is framed with a border that is similar to the design that you will find on a stamp.

These tattoos are pretty small but the design is quite versatile. From flowers and fruits to birds and landscapes, the options are endless!

What Does an Aesthetic Tattoo Mean?

Aesthetic tattoos are actually pretty difficult to define. This is because there isn't a set definition. Rather, aesthetic tattoos are a huge trend right now.

The best way that I can describe aesthetic tattoos is that they are aesthetically pleasing tattoos.

Of course, this can be a rather broad definition so let me try to narrow the concept of aesthetic tattoos for you.

Aesthetic Tattoos and Minimalism

While aesthetic tattoos are meant to be pleasing to the eye, they also boast a modern tattoo style. Due to this, many aesthetic tattoos are minimalistic by design. This isn't a hard and fast rule but you will discover that a majority of aesthetic tattoos do tend to have a simple design.

As a result, many aesthetic tattoos may have a geometric component to them. Aesthetic tattoos may largely consist of dots, lines, and shapes. So, you may find that some aesthetic tattoos have a bit more structure to them.

Aesthetic Tattoos and Size

Aesthetic tattoos are favored by people who are looking for smaller tattoos as well. In fact, some people may get tiny tattoos as aesthetic tattoos.

The upside of this is that aesthetic tattoo ideas can work anywhere - from a finger tattoo to a shoulder tattoo.

That being said, you can't really put aesthetic tattoo ideas in a box. So, it can be just as likely that aesthetic tattoos consist of sleeve tattoos as well.

Unusual Designs With Aesthetic Tattoos

Also, as aesthetic tattoos typically don't have much or any meaning to them, you will find that the designs can be quite unusual. So, you may find aesthetic tattoo ideas with contrasting imagery or abstract concepts.

Of course, with aesthetic tattoos, each of these components is likely to be made up of more modern tattoo design ideas.

Aesthetic Tattoos and Color

A majority of aesthetic tattoos consist of simple black ink outlines. In some instances, there may be some shading to add depth and dimension to the body art.

However, you can add color to aesthetic tattoos as well. For these aesthetic tattoos, you may want to go with neutral colors like white, black, blue, and grey with hints of bolder shades.

Or, if you something a little lighter, pastel colors work as well.

Once again, though, since there are no rules to aesthetic tattoos, you can go ahead and select any hues or shades that you want.

If you are considering jumping on board the aesthetic tattoo trend, then this is the post for you! From simple, small tattoos to large, complex designs, you can find inspiration for it all right here!
