Inking baby footprints on clients is always such a delightful process. This is because these parents are always so filled with love and joy and they can't wait to tell you all about their babies! It is truly wonderful to witness unconditional love.
In this post, I will share the top baby footprint tattoo ideas and give you some hints for designing your tattoo!
Here are the top baby's footprint tattoos that you can check out for yourself:
With this kind of baby footprint tattoo, you simply just have the footprint with no other design elements included in the design. That being said, there are two different ways that you can go about inking your baby's footprints on your body.
The first option works if you don't want to take an imprint of your baby's footprint. In this case, you simply get tiny footprints that look like the real deal. Since the sentiment behind such a tattoo is the same, it can be just as meaningful as getting your baby's actual footprints inked on you.

Such baby footprints also work well for anyone who wants a tiny footprint tattoo. After all, the actual size of your baby's foot can take up quite a bit of space, depending on where you want to get this meaningful tattoo.

Your other option is to get an exact replica of your baby's footprints. So, you start off by getting an imprint of your little one's feet and giving this to the tattoo artist. In addition to making for a cute baby footprint tattoo, this is also a great way to carry a part of your baby with you wherever that you go.

Even with this kind of cute baby footprint tattoo, there are a couple of avenues available to you. For instance, you can choose to get an exact imprint of the baby footprints, complete with the ridges and details on the imprint.

If it feels like this kind of tattoo is going to take too long, then you can consider getting an imprint that is largely colored in. This way, it is an actual representation of the baby's feet but less work has gone into the tattoo.

Most people choose to go with a black ink or grey ink tattoo for this kind of design. However, you don't have to limit yourself like this. If you want, a colorful baby footprints tattoo will work just as well!

Do you want to personalize your baby footprint tattoo a bit more? Then, you can choose to include your little one's name in the baby footprint design.
You can have the name on the side of the baby feet tattoo or along the outline of it. If you want, you can also have the name in the middle of or cut across the baby feet tattoo.

So, for this kind of tattoo, one of the biggest decisions you need to make is regarding the font. There are a lot of different fonts to choose from so make sure that you select something that is in tune with the design of the baby's footprint.

For instance, if you have a black ink baby feet tattoo, then you may want to consider a more elegant or flowing script. In case your baby feet tattoo has a more fun and bubbly vibe, then you can go with a font that has a similarly upbeat feel to it.

Your infant's birth date is pretty significant. Not only was this the day that you finally got meet your baby, but it is also the day that you really became a parent. In this sense, it was when your whole worldview shifted.
So, it only makes sense for you to want to commemorate this day along with your baby footprint tattoo. For this kind of tattoo, you can choose to have only the date alongside the cute baby footprint or you can include the name as well.
Before you go to your tattoo artist with the design, you should think about the date of birth format that you want to use for the tattoo. Is it going to be all in numerals or in words? You can also choose to have a combination of both.
If you want the date of birth to be subtle, at least in comparison to the baby feet tattoo, then have it done in numbers, along the outline of the baby feet.
Image by @daisyyg.tattoos and natecrosstattoos via Instagram
In case you would like to do something a little bit different with your baby footprint tattoo, then you can use Roman numerals instead of traditional numbers. This can also be a good option if you don't want the details about your baby to be easily decoded.

Do you want to remember and commemorate every detail of your baby's birth? Then this is the baby feet tattoo for you!
With this kind of baby footprint tattoo, you include as many of the details about your little one's birth as you want. This can include the date of birth, the time they were born, the weight, and any other detail that you want to include!
If you want to take your baby footprint tattoo to the next level, then you can have the footprint made up of all the details about your child. In addition to information about their birth, you can also include tiny images of their favorite toys or little emojis that represent their family.

Another cool idea for this kind of baby footprint tattoo is to change the way that you include the time in the baby feet tattoo. Instead of simply adding in numbers, use an actual watch or clock tattoo to tell the time instead.

This kind of baby footprint tattoo is ideal if you want a more classic tattoo design. Of course, since such a tattoo can be rather complicated today, especially if you want a more compact design, make sure to choose the right tattoo artist for the job.

If one adorable baby footprint tattoo isn't enough for you, then you should consider getting double baby footprints - one for each foot.
If you would like, you can simply leave this baby footprint concept as it is or you can add other design elements to help you spruce it up. Or, you can include details like your baby's name, date of birth, weight, etc.

The best piece of advice that I can give to you about this kind of baby footprint tattoo is to get an impression of your baby's footprints as soon as possible. Infants grow pretty quickly and before you know it, their baby feet will be a lot larger too.
This means that if you want an accurate representation of the baby feet, then you will need to get a larger tattoo as well. To avoid needing to get a too-large piece of body art, make sure to get the impression while your little one is still a newborn.

If you have more than one child, then you can get a baby footprint for each of your children. Or, you can even get double footprints for each child.
Now, if you have twins, then it means that both footprints will be of the same size. In case you have older kids, though, you may find that their footprints are quite a bit larger.
To avoid getting a too-big footprint tattoo, you can simply size down the baby feet prints. If you haven't managed to get the impression of your older children's baby feet, then you can check old photographs to see if your tattoo artist can recreate the pattern by just looking at the picture.

There are several ways that you can differentiate between baby footprint tattoos. If you want, you can write the corresponding name beside each footprint. Or, if you have boys and girls, you can use colors to tell them apart.

Now, this kind of tattoo can be used in a couple of different ways. If you want, the halo and the wings can be a way to talk about how your child is angelic.
In particular, if you have suffered from health or fertility issues, then your baby can feel like a miracle and this can feel like a good way to announce it to the world.
At the same time, a halo and wings can be used to create a memorial tattoo. If you suffered from a miscarriage or you had a stillborn baby, then this design can be a good way to say that your little one is gone but not forgotten.

In case you would like a slightly more uplifting tone to your tattoo, then you can consider butterfly wings instead of angel wings.

The only thing that is cuter than a footprint is a handprint and a footprint! A handprint and footprint tattoo idea is a good option for anyone who doesn't mind if their tattoo takes up a bit more space, especially since you get double the cuteness!
Of course, if you want you can make the footprint and handprint tattoos a lot smaller. And, to add to the aesthetic element, you can add other design components like leaves or flowers!

The most common meaning behind a baby's footprint tattoo is that you are commemorating your baby's birth. In doing so, however, you may be associating even more meaning to this tattoo.
In addition to being a celebration of your child's birth, this kind of tattoo is also a reminder that you have become a parent. Regardless of if you have had a child before, this process can create new and beautiful feelings within you.
A tattoo of baby feet can also signify the love that you have for your child. The love between a child and a parent is meant to be unconditional and permanent and the tattoo is a physical reminder of this.
There is no one perfect spot to put your baby's footprints. The placement can depend on many things, including the size of the tattoo. A smaller tattoo can fit on your arms and legs while larger tattoos may need to be placed on your chest or back.
Also, you do need to think about how visible you would like the tattoo to be. In case you want to show off the tattoo, then your arms or legs would make the best spot. If you would like to keep the baby footprint tattoo a little more private, then place it somewhere that tends to be covered up.
Keep in mind that your baby's skin can be pretty sensitive. Due to this, it is best to invest in a print kit that is specifically meant for babies. Even with these kits, make sure to patch-test the ink first.
Swipe a bit of the ink on your baby's arm or leg and then wash it off thoroughly with soap after a minute. Wait for at least twenty-four fours to see if any kind of rash develops there. If there is no rash, then you can proceed with the ink pad.
If it appears that your baby is allergic to the ink or you just don't want to take the chance, you should invest in an inkless pad. This allows you to get an impression of your baby's foot without getting any external fluid on them.
Once you have your kit, wait until your baby is fast asleep. Then, press their foot into the ink if you are using it. The key is to get just the right amount of ink - too little and the print will be too light, too much and you risk smudging the print.
For the inkless footprint, simply press their foot into the pad that you have been provided with.
Hold your child's foot against the pad or a piece of paper until you have a proper print and then take the foot away. Allow the print to dry or set.
In the meantime, if you have used ink, make sure to wash your child's foot thoroughly.
Well, there you go - all the tattoo ideas you can possibly need! Just go through the various designs and determine which one is the right fit for you!
