I love doing berserk tattoos: the style behind the anime is just so nitty and gnarly. Just earlier today, I actually had this young client come in for a Casca tattoo on her arm. If you're a fan of the show, you know that she's been through a lot - so she was telling me about how she was getting the tattoo to remind her to be strong no matter what.
While working on her, it hit me that I've done at least a dozen Berserk tattoos this past year. I guess it has to do with the series finally hitting Netflix. So, in this article, I thought about running through the different Berserk tattoos out there.
Before I get to the Berserk tattoo ideas, keep in mind that the Berserk manga was adapted twice into Anime. The second iteration has a more modern style that I personally like.
You'll see that a lot of the tattoos I've attached below are a combination of the two, so it's up to you to decide which of the two adaptions to base on (if you're going with scenes from the anime that is).
With that out of the way, let's get into some Berserk tattoo ideas.
I thought about starting this list off with something simple - a Berserk curse mark tattoo (better known as the Brand of Sacrifice). As a fan of the Manga and Anime series, you probably know that the symbol is more sinister than it looks: it's placed on human sacrifices and dooms them to being hunted by spirits forever.
There are two routes you can go with this tattoo - you can either make the curse mark look realistic and make it look like a scar, or leave out the extra detail and just go with a 2D logo. Personally, I'd recommend the first route. It'll really let you go all out and honor Berserk, while also giving you a sick-looking piece.

Guts, the main character from Berserk, uses the Dragon Slayer Sword as his weapon of choice. It's this gigantic sword that was originally created to slay dragons. But it was a bit of a failure because it was just too heavy to use - in fact, no one could even lift it until Guts finally got to it.
I think the sword will make a perfect tattoo if you want something that's Berserk-related but doesn't scream anime. Think about it - people might just think you got a cool sword to symbolize your warrior spirit.
Most of the tattoos I've done of the sword have been black and white. However, I did this really cool dragon slayer tattoo recently and the client wanted me to add some blood on the tip of it. I just thought this made it look extra interesting, which maybe you can try too.
But regardless here are some berserk tattoo ideas that you might like.

Dragons are a key part of Berserk Astral World: they're after all the sole reason the Dragon Slayer sword was made (even though it was too heavy to actually be used on dragons). Personally, I just love doing any tattoo with dragons. I think they look absolutely visually stunning when done right.
You can include a dragon any way you want, and either go big or small with it. But a lot of clients come in wanting dragons to be a part of more elaborate designs. Like a few weeks ago, this client came in and wanted a dragon wrapping around the Dragon's Slayer sword. I thought this was a really neat idea, which you might like too. I think a cool Berserk tattoo would be you paying tribute to Guts: the main character of the show. There are a bunch of different ways that you can incorporate him into your Berserk tattoo, but I think it'll be a missed opportunity if you don't get the look he makes before he goes into battle - it's this devious smile that almost looks like he's insane. It'll definitely tell people not to mess with you.

I have to say, though, this other tattoo artist in our studio was doing this really cool sketch of Guts in his Berserker armor recently. I thought it just looked really dynamic and different, so here are a few Berserk tattoos that are like it:

Casca is one of my favorite characters in the show - she's Guts' partner, and unfortunately was another victim of the Brand of Sacrifice. So, she has to spend the rest of her life fighting the dark forces that chase after her.
The thing with her is, she's been through a lot. So, she's a perfect tattoo idea if you love Berserk but also want something to represent strength and women power.
Like I said, I did a tattoo of her earlier today. This young client came in and she wanted Casca because she resonated with how strong she was. She didn't really have a vision in mind, so I added a cool minimalist triangular border behind Casca to help her pop.

Instead of just getting Casca, you can mix things up a bit and add Guts in there. They after all were lovers so a tattoo of them in a loving embrace would look really sweet.

There really is no talking about Guts without Griffith. He's pretty much the arch-villain in the show and is the sole reason Casca and Guts have the curse marks on them. He's usually seen in his falcon armor, but it's up to you whether you're going to add it to your Griffith tattoo or not.

Also, if you're getting a back tattoo or just working with a larger space like a sleeve, I'd suggest going all out and getting a tat with Griffith and Guts (like a fight scene from the Eclipse). It plays on the whole idea of good versus evil which will be added to symbolism to your Griffith tattoo. Here's a lot of Berserk tattoo ideas like this:

Apostles are the spirits that make it their mission to hunt down those stuck with the brand of sacrifice. There are just so many of them, but one of the few that makes me absolutely uncomfortable has to be the Egg of the Perfect World - he's this humongous flesh-colored egg with human features (including legs) and bright orange-eyes.
I don't really get to do tattoos of the Egg of the Perfect World that often, but one that I've noticed that a lot of people get is Nosferatu Zodd. I understand why - he has this bull design that looks super intimidating and will be a clear message to people not to mess with you.

Puck's this cute elf that's responsible for most of the comic relief in Berserk (which absolutely is needed at times). I've noticed a lot of clients get tattoos of him when they feel like they resonate with his carefree personality. If you feel the same, then Puck's one of the best Berserk tattoos for you.

If you want to tie him in more with Berserk, you can do what one of my clients did - they got a scene of Puck on Guts' shoulder straight from the Berserk Manga. Here are some Berserk tattoos that are similar:

I'm always creeped out by Behelits whenever they pop up on my screen. They're very reminiscent of the Egg of the Perfect world: they're these humanoid artifacts that are egg-shaped and have these almost dreadful look on them. The fact that they're bright red doesn't help with how unsettling they are either. They're a key part of the Berserk plot, though - you need them to contact the God Hand.
Behelits are pretty small, so a lot of the tats I've done of them have been on the smaller side. One of them even was on the hand.
If you're deciding on getting a tat of them, I'd suggest not skipping the red on their body: I think it makes their design even more terrifying, plus, not that many will be able to tell that you have a Berserk tattoo from a distance without the color.

If you're a Berserk fan, you know how important the Skull Knight is to the plot - he's the whole reason that Guts and Casca were able to free from the fifth eclipse. But he's been a protector and come to the rescue a bunch of other times too.
He's this powerful, otherworldly knight that has waged war against demon-kind for millennia. So, a tattoo of him will not only represent ties to the show but also symbolize strength and protection.
I think the Skull Knight has one of the coolest designs in the Anime series - I especially think he looks cool when on his horse. So a tattoo of him would look really sick. You don't have to worry about getting it in color or not as his design is monochromatic.
Here are some really nice Skull Knight tattoo ideas to try:

The beast of darkness is what the show uses to symbolize Guts' vengeance. The whole fight with Griffith at the Eclipse manifested the beast, making him the wrathful character that we know after the sacrificial ceremony.
Most tattoos I've done of the beast of darkness have been with Guts. Here are some Berserk tattoos with the beast to base your body art on:

I think the back is the best spot for more intricate Berserk tattoos - it's a big enough space to really let you get intricate with the details and let them shine.
From my experience, the best approach to berserk back tattoos is using all that real estate and going for a whole strip from the Berserk manga. I'd suggest going with a dynamic fight scene maybe, like the fight scene with Wyald, or Griffith versus Guts at the Eclipse.

You can also get the berserk tattoo on your hand if you want. But since the space is so small, you won't be able to do much with it - you can either go with maybe a behelit tattoo or some sacrifice marks. Just keep in mind that getting your hand tattooed can hurt. There's just so much thin skin here that I'd advise against it if you're a newbie.

The arm's not too big or small, so I'd say it's the perfect spot for any tattoo berserk or not. You can go with all kinds of Berserk tattoo ideas here really, from the curse mark to benefits to even cutouts of Guts, Casca, and skull knights.
If you want to go all out, you can make the arm tattoo a part of a sleeve. So, you'll have this giant berserk tattoo that stretches from the top of your arm/shoulder area to your wrist. However, if you'd rather opt for something less flashy, you can go for a half sleeve: it'll be a berserk tattoo from your elbow to your wrist, or shoulder area to your elbow.

I've not done that many neck Berserk tattoos but I think it's a cool spot that you can try. Most of the Neck berserk tattoos I've done have been smaller on the side, like the Brand of Sacrifice. It's not surprising to think why: Guts got his curse mark on his neck, so a lot of die-hard fans like to copy this.
I have to say, though, getting a neck tattoo can hurt. In fact, a lot of tattoo artists (including me) advise newbies against getting one: there's just a lot of sensitive nerves and thin skin here.

Lastly, you can get your berserk tattoo on your leg. The thigh's pretty big, so you'll have enough space for a more intricate piece here. But keep in mind that if you're going to be getting it anywhere near your ankle, you'll be dealing with direct bone. So, you'll be feeling some severe pain.

The Berserk symbol or the Brand of Sacrifice is a good tattoo idea if you want something Berserk-related but don't want it to scream Anime. But there are a few different meanings that it can represent too: it does a good job of reminding you of the notion of sacrifice. But it can also signify fate and doom, as the bearers of the mark are forever hunted down by the Apostles.
As you can imagine, the brand of sacrifice has a lot of despair to it - the characters that got branded pretty much have been betrayed and have had their life ruined. A tattoo of it is also an interesting design to get if you want something to represent any trauma that you've been through.
As you saw in my guide, there are so many different Berserk tattoos that you can get. My personal favorite has to be doing Casca on people - it's a good design if you want something to show the world how strong you are.
All in all, I hope you found all of the points that were run through useful, and now know which Berserk tattoo to get!
