This is such a cool tattoo idea as it's not quite as mainstream as flowers. At the same time, it helps you stay with the nature theme which can be quite a powerful one for a leg tattoo.

For the longest time, wolves were seen as a traditionally masculine symbol. However, they are becoming increasingly popular with women as well.

Sun and moon leg tattoos are a popular option. While they are simple leg tattoos, they hold a lot of meaning.
For instance, they are often seen as two opposing forces but which are equally important and powerful. The sun is typically associated with masculine energy while the moon takes on a more female form.
When featured separately, it may be seen as an acknowledgment of how different these two symbols can be. They are especially common as back of the shin tattoos:

The great thing about this type of body art is all the aesthetic options available. There are so many different designs, patterns, and art forms that you can use to depict the sun and the moon.
You can let your imagination run wild and create anything you want - simple, complex, big, or small tattoo - the options are endless!
Decorative tattoos, also known as ornamental tattoos, are typically chosen for aesthetic reasons. There is no real meaning to the pattern or design.
Due to this, you get a lot of free range when choosing a leg tattoo. While many of these tattoo ideas do have some common threads, others are completely unique.
It is up to you to decide whether you want a tattoo design based on something that's been done before or come up with something completely new and unique with your tattoo artist.

As you may have noticed, it isn't often that you will find a full leg tattoo on a woman. Due to this, the designs for a leg sleeve tattoo can be varied and largely down to personal preference.
If you are considering getting a full leg tattoo, consider a theme or an aesthetic for your tattoo. This will help the entire leg to have a more cohesive appearance.
Of course, if you would like to have different themes for different sections of your leg, then this is certainly something you can do.

Well, this depends on the exact location of your leg tattoo. The upper, outer thigh is probably one of the least painful places to get inked. This is because it is well-padded with fat and has fewer nerve endings.
A tattoo on most places on your upper thigh should only be moderately painful due to thick skin - about a 3 on the pain scale. The same goes for a tattoo on your calves. There is a decent amount of fat here, and there aren't too many nerve endings.
The closer you get to the shin, however, the more painful the tattoo can be. This is because a shin tattoo is located on thin skin and right on top of leg bones. A tattoo on the ankles and feet can be quite painful as well - around a 9 or even 10 on the pain scale.
Your lower leg tattoos can be a little trickier to heal. This part of the body is located far from the heart, which means that there is less blood flow.
In turn, tattoos that you get here can take a little longer to heal.
You should also be aware that your lower legs - and areas that you shave regularly - are more prone to infection.
To avoid an infection, make sure to follow your tattoo artist's advice. This includes using the right ointment, not shaving until the tattoo is fully healed (even during the hair growth phase), and minimizing friction or rubbing caused by clothes or activity.
It is all about preference. Some people may prefer their dominant leg to their non-dominant one or vice versa.
Then, there are those who prefer symmetry. If this is true for you, you may want to balance things out by getting the same or similar leg tattoo on each leg.
Full leg tattoos are often called leg sleeve tattoos. Those that take up half the leg are known as half sleeve tattoos.
When speaking to your tattoo artist about what you want, don't use terms like these, however. Instead, clearly specify the exact dimensions you want your tattoo to be.
Well, there you have it - all the women's leg tattoos you need to know about. Now that you know what tattoo designs are available, it will be a lot easier to find the leg tattoo that's just right for you.
