40+ Mewtwo Tattoo Ideas to Show the World How Strong You Are!

by Sherri Owens

I've been a Pokemon fan since the series came out, and I have to say that Mewtwo is my all-time favorite Pokemon: I'm just a big fan of his attitude and sheer strength. Naturally, I get excited whenever customers come in wanting Mewtwo tattoos, especially when I get to do more elaborate tattoos of him.

Generally speaking, Mewtwo tattoos are good ways to symbolize strength, but depending on the imagery you add, they can mean different things, like Mewtwo and Mew together can represent a sense of balance. But that's not it, there's a lot to talk about, so, I thought about diving into these different Mewtwo Pokemon tattoos, and their meanings!

Best Mewtwo Tattoos

Here are all the best Mewtwo tattoos.

Mewtwo Outline Tattoo

If you want to pay tribute to Mewtwo while keeping it simple, you can always do a basic lineart Mewtwo tattoo. Essentially, you would do a Mewtwo tattoo with only the outline and no coloring or shading inside of him. This is definitely a more minimalist tattoo idea when you think of it.

Since you'd be working with just an outline, you can easily make the tattoo small if you want.

Armored Mewtwo Tattoos

An armored Mewtwo is a cool Mewtwo version in the Pokemon Go games. It's definitely a rare catch to find, being almost treated like treasure by Pokemon Go fans. You can get the tattoo to pay tribute to catching an armored Mewtwo if you've achieved this feat.

But there's definitely added symbolism to armored Mewtwo tattoos. Mewtwo is arguably the most powerful Pokemon in the world, yet he's wearing armor in this tattoo design. This can symbolize that even strong people are vulnerable and need help sometimes.

Pastel Mewtwo Tattoo Design

MewTwo's pastel purple color design contrasts his stoic, almost serious personality well. So for a more cool-looking Mewtwo tattoo, you can possibly amp up his pastel colorway and make it more vibrant.

I did one of these tattoos a while back, and the client wanted a few other Pokémon that have similar color schemes to be added in there, like Gengar. I thought it came out stunning, so maybe you can go this route as well.

Mewtwo Escape Tattoos

MewTwo being the clone of Mew, was artificially created by Team Rocket in a lab. You can get a tattoo of his "birth" and pay tribute to an iconic scene that will forever be Pokémon history. But also, the scene of escaping can symbolize power, change, and transformation, which may be key aspects of your life right now.

Since it's such a dramatic moment, I think it might be smart to do the tattoo in black and white - it would make it look more serious.

Mewtwo and Mew Tattoo Design

Mewtwo and Mew are good representations of yin and yang, with both of them being contrasting forces to each other. In fact, in the series, Mewtwo was made as a stronger version of Mew but turned out to be a much darker version too. Together as a tattoo, Mew, and Mewtwo can represent balancing forces in life.

Mewtwo Fighting Tattoo

Mewtwo's a legendary Pokémon, almost having god-like powers. To honor his strength, you can do a tattoo of him getting ready to fight. I've noticed that in all the tattoos like this that I've done, the clients have wanted Mewtwo to have an energy beam in his arms, so maybe you can go this route too.

Instead of him in a fighting stance, you can actually have him in a fight scene for your tattoo. In the movie, Mewtwo Returns, he has an iconic fight scene against Gyrados and a bunch of other Pokemon that can make a good tattoo idea.

Mewtwo and Pikachu Tattoos

Mewtwo is a symbol of power and intelligence, while Pikachu is known for his strength and determination. As a tattoo, combining Mewtwo and Pikachu together can represent a sense of both being wise and strong enough to overcome your challenges in life.

I also have to say that both Mewtwo and Pikachu are some of the most recognizable Pokémon from the franchise. By doing a tattoo of them together, you'll have a memorable piece that can connect back to the series.

Pixelated Mewtwo Tattoo

Pixelated graphics are hallmarks of video games, and as a Pokémon fan, you're probably aware that Mewtwo has been a part of the Pokémon franchise for decades now. So a pixelated Mewtwo tattoo can be a nostalgic homage to the Pokémon games, especially the Pokemon Red and Blue game that he first showed up in.

Mewtwo Mashup Tattoos

MewTwo's a super serious character, so going the more comedic route with your Pokémon tattoo can be a very interesting idea.

I think the best way to do this is to mash him up with other characters that you wouldn't expect. I did this Mewtwo tattoo once where the client wanted me to make him look like he was a Star Wars character. But there was also one where the client wanted Jake the Dog from Adventure Time as Mewtwo which was pretty funny.

Mewtwo Sketch Tattoos

A Mewtwo pencil sketch tattoo can be an ideal way to express your individuality, as well as your love for art. It's definitely also a way to pay tribute to your childhood when you were possibly sketching Mewtwo and other Pokemon in class, too.

Mewtwo Pokemon Watercolor Tattoo

Speaking of your love for art, you can also do a Mewtwo watercolor tattoo. Frankly, it's up to you to decide how to add the watercolor effect, but most of the watercolor Mewtwo tattoos that I've done have included watercolor effects in the background. It's definitely a fun way to combine your love for painting with probably one of the best Pokemon around!

Sleeve Mewtwo Tattoos

If you want an absolutely eye-catching Mewtwo tattoo, you can consider getting a full Mewtwo sleeve. You'll essentially be getting a Mewtwo tattoo that stretches from the top of your arm or leg all the way to the bottom.

As you'll be working with such a large space, you'll have to include some other motifs in there - you can perhaps do what one of my clients did for their sleeve and get other legendary Pokemon inked too.

Of course, you don't have to commit to a full sleeve, as you can get a half sleeve for your tattoo design. It sounds exactly like you might think - it'll stretch halfway from your arm or leg.

Mewtwo Leg Tattoos

Last but not least, you can get a Mewtwo leg tattoo. Depending on where on your leg you're getting tattooed, you'll have a lot of space to work with. There will be enough and more room to do an epic battle scene, like the one with Gyarados or even Rhyhorn from the movie.

Also, I always tell customers who don't have the best pain tolerance to get their upper outer thigh tattooed because it doesn't hurt that much. You might have to get your Mewtwo tattoo here if you want a leg tattoo but don't have the best pain tolerance.

What Does a Mewtwo Tattoo Mean?

Generally speaking, a Mewtwo tattoo can symbolize strength, as Mewtwo is this god-tier Pokemon. However, the tattoo design can also symbolize balance and contrast in life when you add him next to Mew. Of course, he can also represent transformation and rebirth by getting his escape or "birth" as your tattoo design, which may be key aspects of your life right now.

At the end of the day, the specific imagery you add to the tattoo when getting inked plays a big role in the symbolism behind the tattoo's meaning, like including Pikachu in there can represent determination and strength too.
