The Best Peacock Tattoo Designs

Here are some of the best peacock tattoos you can choose from:

Peacock Feather Tattoo Ideas

If you are not keen on getting a tattoo of the entire peacock, then you can consider getting just the feathers. After all, peacock feathers are one of the loveliest elements of the bird.

Not only are the colorful tail feathers incredibly beautiful, but peacock feathers also have beautiful meanings attached to them.

As you will have noticed, the end of the peacock feather has what looks like an eye. This symbol is similar to that of the Evil Eye - a protective ward that keeps bad luck and evil forces at bay. Therefore, the peacock feathers are associated with good luck and protection.

The peacock feather can also be associated with virility and fertility. As such, the peacock feathers can be a symbol of desirability.

Now, when it comes to the peacock feather tattoo design, you don't automatically have to go for a detailed or intricate pattern. If you would like, you can get a tattoo of a simple peacock feather. As long as you ensure that the main details are there, you should have no trouble in portraying what the peacock feather is.

Traditional Peacock Tattoo Ideas

If you want a bit more of a classic look to your tattoo, then you may want to think about getting a traditional or a neo-traditional peacock tattoo.

Bold Colors Traditional Peacock with Single Flower Tattoo

A traditional tattoo involves thick black lines and bold colors. A neo-traditional tattoo is pretty similar except there is a bit more variation in the thickness of the lines. Also, you will find that the color palette has a few more options too.

What I love about this category is that there are just so many ways to produce such tattoos. If you want, you can keep things simple and go with an all-black tattoo. You can still get that traditional or neo-traditional look with the outline and specific design elements.

Leaping Peacock Tattoo Ideas

Although peacocks can technically fly, they don't fly for long distances. In fact, unless a peacock is threatened, it is unlikely to see a peacock take flight. This is why you are more likely to see a peacock swoop or leap rather than fly. Still, it is a rather beautiful sight

Vibrant Colors Leaping Peacock Shoulder Tattoo

This is why I decided to include a couple of designs of the peacock leaping to a higher structure. The key thing to pay attention to here is the position of the legs and how the wings are stretched out. This can make all the difference when it comes to the design.

You may also want to think about the placement of such a tattoo a little more closely too. I find that the shoulder/arm area or the upper thigh region may be the best spot for this kind of tattoo. It supports the leaping motion of the bird. i

What Do Peacock Tattoos Symbolize?

Peacock symbolism can vary quite a bit from one region and culture to another. Also, don't forget that some people have specific personal associations with the bird as well.

There is no denying that the peacock is one of the loveliest birds around. Due to its exquisite feathers and coloring, it is associated with beauty and confidence.

Interestingly enough, though, the peacock is the male of the species and far more attractive than the female. So, technically, a peacock is a symbol of male beauty. The bird can also be considered a symbol for attracting a mate or partner.

That being said, the peacock beauty is sometimes associated with pride and narcissism.

As the peacock is such an exquisite creature, it has often been linked to luxury and royalty. So, a peacock tattoo can be a hint at the finer things in life.

Peacocks have also been considered holy or associated with certain gods. For instance, in the Hindu religion, peacocks were believed to be born from the feathers of an ancient mythical bird known as the garuda. The peacock was said to fight off evil snakes as well as function as a vehicle for many of the Hindu gods.

According to ancient Greek mythology, the peacock was created by Hera, wife to Zeus. Argus - a creature with many eyes - was sent on a mission by Hera. In the course of this, though, Argus was killed.

To commemorate her faithful servant, Hera transferred an eye from Argus to the tail feathers of the peacock. Hera valued the bird so much that it was used to pull her chariot.

In China, the peacock is said to be a symbol of protection and good fortune.

Well, there you have it - all the peacock tattoo designs that you can possibly have to choose from! It doesn't matter if you are looking for something minimalistic or something complex, there are a ton of designs for you here! Not only will you be spoilt for choice, but you are sure to find exactly what you need.
