The Best Weed Tattoo Ideas

If you're looking for the coolest, creative, and most fun weed tattoo designs, here they are.

Weed Leaf Tattoos

If you're looking for a classic weed tattoo design, you can't go wrong with a marijuana leaf or weed leaf tattoo.

This weed tattoo concept works so well because it's nostalgic. You might have had weed leaf designs scrawled all over your notebooks when you were a teenager. You may also have had bag pins, stickers, and more.

If you want to get a weed leaf tattoo, there are a few options available. You can go with the classic, realistic design. Or, you can do a cartoon version of the marijuana leaf.

You don't need to stop there, though, you can get creative with your weed leaf tattoo. From using different colors to incorporating various elements associated with the marijuana leaf, there are plenty of ideas to choose from.

Remember that there are no rules when you're working with this type of weed tattoo. You're free to get as crazy as you like with your weed tattoo designs.

If you want a more minimalistic or realistic weed tattoo design, here are the weed tattoos to check out. This weed tattoo works well if you want a small design:

If you want to make a real statement with your weed tattoo, here are some other weed tattoos you should check out:

This weed tattoo design is both visually stunning as well as incredibly creative. Not only is the leaf incredibly detailed, but the concept of the leaf disappearing into wispy smoke really elevates this weed tattoo.

This is another gorgeous weed leaf tattoo to consider. Not only is it beautiful, but it's also sensual. The great thing about this weed tattoo is that your attention moves between the woman and the leaf, making it a fascinating piece of ink.

This is such a cute weed tattoo - the leaf is folded into a peace sign. It's great weed tattoo if, in addition to your love for Mary Jane, you also enjoy a hippy lifestyle. This weed tattoo works well if you like the vintage style as well:

If you want to steer clear of a classic weed tattoo, this is a design you should consider. It shows a human eye nestled between two leaves. This is an ethereal and haunting weed tattoo. However, it also has its own message. It shows how weed can open your mind and broaden your horizons:

Plant or Bud Weed Tattoos

If a weed leaf feels a little too played out for your weed tattoo, here is another idea: a weed plant or bud tattoo.

There are many things to like about this kind of weed tattoo. For one, the cannabis plant is as recognizable as the leaves. People who love weed are also familiar with what the bud looks like.

This weed tattoo design is a great way to show that you're a part of the smoking culture while doing something a little unusual.

Once again, there are different ways to go with this kind of weed tattoo. You can depict the plant or the bud in a realistic style. Or, your marijuana tattoo can take a more fun or zany approach to things.

You can have animated versions of buds or push your boundaries with a creative idea.

If you don't want to get fancy with your weed tattoo, these are some of the weed tattoo ideas that may be right up your alley:

Some tattoos go all out when depicting the spliff life.

Here is an exquisite tattoo depicting the gorilla glue strain. There is so much attention to detail here. While it's clearly a bud, the gorilla design is highly realistic and noticeable. Of course, you can replicate this kind of tattoo with your favorite strain.

If you want to get a good chuckle out of your weed tattoo, consider something like this tattoo. The astronaut carrying the plant is a great way to emphasize that, if humans were to colonize another planet, weed would be one of the first plants to be grown there.

If you're looking for the kind of weed tattoo that will make others do a double take, then this aesthetically pleasing design is one that you should draw inspiration from.

At first glance, it may seem like your typical bud. However, upon closer inspection you will notice that it's actually a curled up cat - how cool is that?

Joint Tattoos

If you're looking for more contemporary cannabis tattoos, getting a joint weed tattoo is the way to go. One of the things I like about this weed tattoo is that you can choose a subtle design. You can do it in such a way that no one can tell it's a weed tattoo unless they ask.

This can be a good thing if you work or go to school and don't want to be asked to cover up your weed tattoo.

I really like that you can play around with such marijuana tattoo designs.

If you want a tattoo that is a bit more basic or standard, here are some of the tattoos to consider:

With this weed tattoo, there is a ghost coming out of a joint. This is just a different take on typical marijuana tattoo designs.

This is a slightly different take on this concept but it's still seriously cool:

This has to be one of my favorite weed tattoo concepts. It has a pretty funny message but the attention to detail also makes it a true work of art.

Of course, if you're going for realism, you really can't beat this tattoo. From the details to the perfect coloring and shading, this is a tattoo to behold. Not to mention, it puts a creative twist on the tattoo idea.

Smoking Weed Tattoos

These are some of my favorite weed tattoo designs. For one thing, there is a lot of room for creative license here. You can have anyone from historic figures to your beloved cartoon characters lighting up using various smoking paraphernalia.

If you also want a weed tattoo that is very different to others, this is a category of tattoo designs that you should look into. By choosing a particular person or character, you have the personal freedom to make any statement you like with your weed tattoo.

Gettin' High

This is another really cool idea for a weed tattoo. With this kind of marijuana tattoo, the weed isn't necessarily the main focus.

Rather, it's the feeling you get when you smoke weed. You could get a weed tattoo that's related to happiness, a higher level of conscious, or simply enjoying the high life.

You may also want to think about a particularly fun or pleasant experience that you've had. Consider the various elements of that experience and determine how to put them into a weed tattoo. This is a great way to make your tattoo your own and get one unlike any other.

If you want to take some liberties, you can also include vivid psychedelic colors and auras to your weed tattoo.

Check out the following marijuana tattoos and have a chat with your tattoo artist about your own weed tattoo.

420 Tattoos

A lot of people will use the term 420 friendly when they talk about smoking weed. In general, 420 is solely linked to weed.

Do you know the infamous story behind this number? Sure, it is the national weed day, but how did this even come to be?

Well, as near as anyone can tell, there were a group of high school students who used to meet everyday at 4.20 pm to smoke up at school. So, they began to refer to it as 420. They also became known as the Waldos as they would hang out by a particular wall near school.

One member of the Waldos went to become a roadie for the Grateful Dead where he passed on the 420 lingo to the band members. In turn, they shared it with the world and now it's practically a global phenomenon.

You can get a 420 weed tattoo if you want a more modern take on this concept. It is also great if you're looking for a more simple design for your marijuana tattoo.

If you want, you can get just the numbers tattooed on your body. Your other option is to incorporate the numbers into a more descriptive or creative weed tattoo.

Check out these weed tattoo designs to determine which idea works for you the best. You can then workshop it with your tattoo artist to come up with a custom weed tattoo design.

Bob Marley Weed Tattoos

Of all the artists, Bob Marley is arguably one that is most closely associated with weed. After all, he certainly didn't hide his love for the herb.

At the same time, Bob Marley elevated the concept of weed. For him, it wasn't just about getting high. He referred to it as the healing herb. It was about broadening horizons, opening minds, and erasing borders.

In this sense, Bob Marley was all about the positive elements associated with weed. So, if you want to get a Bob Marley tattoo, along with a weed tattoo you certainly should go ahead.

However, as you are going through marijuana tattoo designs to choose your weed design, keep in mind what Marley's thought about weed and make sure that your weed tattoo reflects this.

Creative Weed Tattoos

Sure, it can be argued that many of the marijuana tattoo designs I have shown you up until now have been pretty darn creative. However, there are some weed tattoos that just take it to the next level.

Check out this one, for example:

Pineapple and Weed Leaves Thigh Tattoo

It's a visual play on either pineapple OG or pineapple kush hybrid strain. In any case, this is a great way to create a weed tattoo out of your favorite strain.

What is cool about this kind of weed tattoo is that you're subtly providing some insight into yourself. Each strain provides you with a different kind of high - some mellow you out while others offer up bursts of creativity.

By showcasing your favorite high with your weed tattoo, you're providing a glimpse of who you are and what you're looking for.

This is another really cool weed tattoo:

Beach Landscape and Weed Knee Tattoo

Unlike other marijuana tattoo designs, this one doesn't actually show bud, weed, plant, joint, etc. Instead, it shows you a scenic landscape in a baggie.

This is a representation of the break from reality that you can take when you smoke up. You can get away to that place that makes you feel the calmest.

You can put your own custom spin on this weed tattoo with the help of your tattoo artist. You can depict your favorite place to escape or what it is like for you when you get high.

This next weed tattoo is a great option if you're looking for a more vintage weed tattoo but want something new and creative. With this wee tattoo, it's all about the details:

Colored Bag of Weed on Fire Tattoo

As you can see, the baggie of weed is on fire, representing lighting up. Then, you have the words sorry daddy which hints at teenage rebellion. If you look a little closely, you will also notice notebook paper.

All in all, this weed tattoo is a throwback to when you used to sneak off to smoke weed with your friends when you were younger - something your parents certainly wouldn't have approved of.

There is also this weed tattoo. There's no denying that of all the marijuana tattoos, this one has a slightly darker edge. At the same time, it is a really cool and unusual weed tattoo. It works well if you have been looking for a tattoo design with a slightly more gothic vibe.
